The biggest journey is often the one you do while planning your trip, reading traveling books regarding the country you are going to visit and all the nice places you are planing to find. Our journey started may years ago, I think it was about 10 years ago when I just bought the Yamaha FJR 1300 and I was dreaming about traveling to country’s far away with the bike, so far so you pas time zones and see total different cultures. That was my dream but I have a wife as well and at that time we had hardy been more the 100km away from home with my old TX750 and note ever over to Denmark so this far away trip felt far away in many ways.
When we planned the trip to Corsica I came over a blog from an old man living far up north in Sweden actually in Haparanda and he drew all the way down to Greece over to Italy and back home again and I was hooked. I felt we just had to something like that. Then some years ago we went to a Student party and I had the opportunity to sit beside an other biker. We talked about our bikes and the trips we have made and what we had in mind for the future. After a while I told him my fantasy about Romania and the Black see and how I like to go there. He looked at me, a little surprised I think and said, we did that trip some years ago.
Then he and his wife told us about the trip and how much fun they had. That was the turning point and the plan was to make this happen the summer 2018.
Here below you can see the approximate traveling route on our way down there. It was very close to 3000km to Mamaia Constanta the way we took.
The road to the Black See
Our journey started by going to Ystad for the ferry to Polen. The ferry should leave Sweden late that night so we had a lot lot of time to get ready that Saturday but if you know me I was well prepared and that Saturday was loooong before we could take of for Ystad. We couldn’t book a cabin up front since it was all ready fully booked they said, the hope was that we could book in on the boat so we better be the first on.
Geting ready for take of.
We got our cabin
The first day throe Polen was kind of transport day and the goal was to reach the area where Polen, Tjeck and Germany meet. This is a very wonderful area with very special sandstone formed by water during thousands of years and now a place for hikers. On the German side is the Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz and well worth av visit. Our goal was to stay in CZ and the area of Hřensko and do hiking and explore the naure around the river Kamenice close to Hremsko.
It wasn’t that easy to find a place to stay and we had to drive i bit on the small road ans stopped several times to ask for room but it was full every where. Finally in Ruzova we found a nice place and from there we had a nice base
The family was lovely hosts. The Grandfather was handling the bar, the grandmother was in charge for the kitchen together with an old friend and the daughter was taking care of the guests.
Below you will see pictures from the area. If you have a chance, go there.
On our way to the view point
Looking out of that special building
Nice 360 degree view.
A special building
Tired after a long day in the saddle and a nice walk to the viewpoint we had a nice goulash and slept like logs.
We had a nice breakfast and was ready for our walk, it was supposed to be a full day and about 15km but with some climbing and not just flat land.
The adventure can begin.
Finally, with shaky legs we reach the bottom and could start following the river
We came to a place where you could go with boats
The nature and the river was very spectacular.
You could imaging how the water have made this river over time.
Very nice and romantic
Finally it stopped and we wasn’t up to ruff walking so we followed the trail on wooden sidewalks.
Up on the other side and time for some steep walking again.
Finally on the top we saw a place that looked as a place where we have hear you could eat.
The closer we came the more skeptic we got. Finaly there we saw the beer sign and and also a handwritten sign out side telling the today’s special. We stopped an took a table. An old man came out and asked what we liked. We ordered two big beer and two chicken filet with pomes and a tomato salad. We was served promptly and we had a very nice meal.
It looked like that place had seen it’s best days. We continued our walk.
When we reach this town, we understood we were outside the map we were following. ie a little lost …. We stopped some people we met and asked for the way, They said we were lucky because we could discover the wild area of the national part with only a few tourist instead of the normal tourist trap. They were from Austria but well aware of Sweden since their daughter studied at Alnarp a hortonom school not far away from our home.
Reaching the top on the other side.
Nice and exiting climbing
Hanging rocks.
Lovely views.
Back home at the Hotel after 21km. Tomorrow its time to leave for the next part of the journey.
